If you cannot see the filter, it might be necessary to import it from Clarivate’s support pages.

  • Choose the appropriate Import option (based on the format in which you saved the file you might need to select 'other filters' if the one you are looking for is not already displayed).
  • Select the import option, File > Import > File.
  • Save the references as a single file to your computer (not into EndNote, just onto the desktop for example).
  • Undertake a search and identify the results that you want to export.
  • Open a database or a tool that searches multiple databases e.g.
  • The instructions below assume you know how to undertake a search in your database/s of choice and select references for export. It is not as quick as exporting directly (see Method 4) but it is very reliable.

Note that in some cases EndNote is not able to locate the full text even though the library has it. Once you’ve applied these settings, clicking on Find Full Text should import any PDFs available through Queen's University Library or otherwise freely available. Go to Edit > Preferences > Find Full Text and add the OpenURL and proxy prefix as seen here:

If you have downloaded EndNote desktop using the site license for Queen's (see Introduction above), you can use the "Find Full Text" feature to import PDFs for your citations. Whether you are using EndNote basic or EndNote desktop, be sure you’re taking advantage of the ability to find full text easily.Īlthough EndNote basic is freely available, if you sign-in to EndNote via the library database Web of Science (see below) you will be able to see Get it Queen's links for each citation that will take you to the full-text article if the publication is purchased by Queen's University Library or otherwise freely available. More information about these alerts and how to activate them can be found in the EndNote 20: Retraction Alerts article. These will appear under a 'Retractions' section on the left navigation pane.

  • EndNote 20 now integrates the Retraction Watch database to alert you of retracted articles in your libraries.
  • When the article is found, it will automatically be attached to your reference.
